Hugo Martinez-Nieto, born December 26, 2013, is a remarkably talented young artist based in Manhattan, New York who has distinguished himself in music, modeling, acting, and composition. A dual citizen of the United States and Spain, fluent in Spanish, Catalan, and English, Hugo grew up immersed in a rich artistic environment thanks to his family. His father, Pascual Martinez-Forteza, is the only Spanish clarinetist in the history of the New York Philharmonic and also serves as faculty at some of the most prestigious conservatories and colleges in the USA. 
His mother, Gema Nieto-Forteza, is a professional pianist, Hugo’s mentor, manager, piano coach, and acting coach, playing a central role in guiding his artistic development. Hugo’s sisters are accomplished singers as well: Patricia, with just graduated from the vocal studio at LaGuardia High School and will begin studies at the Manhattan School of Music, and Alba, a rising sophomore in the vocal studio at LaGuardia High School, reflecting a family deeply rooted in the performing arts.
From an early age, Hugo’s natural charisma and striking presence led him to build a successful fashion career alongside his musical endeavors. Represented by New York Model Management, he has been featured in some of the most important and high-profile fashion campaigns of recent years, working with globally recognized brands such as GAP, Zara, DKNY, Nike, Converse, Macy’s, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, and Saks Fifth Avenue. His extensive portfolio boasts collaborations with top photographers including Zoe Adlesberg, Ben Watts, Jack O’Connor, Amanda Pratt, Seiji Fujimori, Ethan Berger, Matthew Shrier, Coliena Rentmeester, and Greg Sorensen, among others. From iconic New York locations like Brooklyn’s Dumbo, Pier 59 Studios, and Washington Square Park, to international shoots in Madrid and the Dominican Republic, Hugo’s professionalism and versatility have made him a standout in campaigns such as Converse’s Back to School eyewear (photographed by Keena), Nike’s “Always On” campaign (Moren Ramone & George McGuinness-Robson), and DKNY’s FW24 (Zoe Adlesberg).
Beyond his flourishing modeling career, Hugo is also a gifted singer and actor. Since joining the Young People’s Chorus of New York City in 2020 and the Metropolitan Opera Children’s Chorus in 2024, he has performed in major operatic productions including La Bohème (conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin), Die Frau Ohne Schatten (conducted by Franz Welser-Möst), and Queen of Spades (conducted by James Gaffigan) during the 24/25 Metropolitan Opera season, appearing in more than 30 performances. His vocal talents have been showcased in prominent venues such as David Geffen Hall and the Rose Theatre at Jazz at Lincoln Center, often as a featured soloist. Hugo is al an accomplished young composer, with works like “Fur Mami” premiered by The Knights and scheduled for broadcast on WQXR in September, as well as other chamber pieces performed at New York Philharmonic events as part of their Very Young Composers program.
Currently a 7th grader at the Special Music School at Lincoln Center, Hugo studies trombone and piano while receiving advanced voice and dance training. He balances his artistic life with athletic pursuits including skiing, sailing, surfing, tennis, soccer, and rock climbing. His television appearances include segments on Good Morning America and internationally broadcast documentaries, further underscoring his comfort in diverse media settings. Known for his infectious energy, dedication, and sophisticated style, Hugo Martinez-Nieto continues to rise as both a fashion industry favorite and a young artist with an inspiring future.
